LA Wall Crawl

Instagram walls have been a rising trend in major cities, but not many people outside of the LA really take notice of LA’s iconic Instagram walls. I’m talking about the one’s lined up on Melrose and the various hipster cafes like Alfred’s Coffee and Tea around the LA area. So call up your friends, grab your camera, and get ready for a photoshoot in front of these 7 LA Walls:

1. Pink Wall

Ah the iconic Pink Wall. If you’ve never heard of it, you’ve at least seen it floating around Instagram. This wall is located on Melrose Avenue and is also part of the Paul Smith building. A word of warning for those wanting to use a professional camera: You’ll need to take it on the sidewalk rather than on the parking lot where the wall is – I don’t know why this rule exists, but it is what it is. Cell phone camera are fine inside the parking lot.

2. Made in LA Wall

Born and raised in the city of angels? Well, even if you aren’t, this is a great wall to showcase where you are. This one is also located on Melrose and on the wall of a furniture store. It’s just a little walk away from the Pink Wall, and with how difficult parking can be (because the struggle for parking is so real in LA), you might as well walk to this one..

3. Dot Wall

The Dot wall is an explosion of different colors, perfect for people who crave something a little more exciting than a plain wall with words. Though this one’s a bit confusing to find as it’s located in a construction/business area, it’s super adorable and so worth the struggle of parking. I mean it’s polka dots… I can’t think of anything cuter as a background for pictures.

4. Carrera Wall

This wall is right across from the Pink Wall and on the side of Carerra Cafe (one of the best coffee’s I’ve ever had, no joke). Unlike other walls in LA, the art featured changes from season to season. The most recent change was from La La Land to art that captured the spirit of Coachella in the form of Lady Gaga’s face. With that said, there’s always something new and exciting on the wall of this cafe.

5. Love Wall

Want to bring bae along for the ride? Then this wall is the perfect place to take pictures with him/her. After all, this wall is the sight of many wedding photos and it totally makes sense! Located behind Smashbox Studios, this wall features the word ‘love’ repeatedly on a red background.

6. Gallery Brown Retna Mural

This one reminds me of egyptian hieroglyphs (it probably isn’t) because of it’s featured sharp shapes and random circles. Before I get too caught up in it’s appearance, this wall is located near West 3rd street and is at the entrance of a back alley parking lot. Sketch sounding? I know. But if you’re doing it for the gram, you gotta take risks. Just make sure to be quick as cars do pass in and out of this little alley.

7. Alfred Coffee

Coffee lovers – this one’s for you! I mean, who doesn’t love Alfred Coffee? But wait, not only is this much better than any Starbuck’s drink you’ll ever have, but it has prime aesthetic for those instagram pics. This particular one I went to is not the one on Melrose, rather it’s located in the Silverlake area of LA… and right across from the Micheltorena stairs (another famous instagram spot, but not a wall).
